Brief Overview
Mono ammonium phosphate is formed with a solution of Phosphoric acid and Ammonia solution. Mono ammonium phosphate, also known as Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, is widely used in food and fertilizer industries. Mono ammonium phosphate has a tetragonal crystal prism structure. As a result of its crystal structure, Ammonium Dihydrogen phosphate is widely used in the optical industry. Mono ammonium phosphate usually contains P2O5 (52%) and ammoniacal nitrogen (11%).
Manufacturing Process
Mono ammonium phosphate is commercially produced by the reaction between Ammonia and Phosphoric acid of a 1:1 ratio, producing the resulting slurry of Mono ammonium phosphate. Mono ammonium phosphates are then solidified in the granulator. Mono ammonium phosphate can also be produced by the reacting 1:1 ratio of Ammonia and Phosphoric acid in a pipe cross reactor where the reaction generates heat to evaporate water and solidify the Mono ammonium phosphate product.
Food Industry
Mono ammonium phosphate is mainly used as a food additive, fermentation agent, and nourishment in the food industry. It is widely used as a leavening agent in food production. As a leavening agent, mono ammonium phosphate promotAes fermentation and enhances nutrition in baked food. Mono ammonium phosphate is used in nutrition and foliar feeding for all plants and crops.
Agriculture Industry
Mono ammonium phosphate is widely used in making effective organic complex fertilizers, compound fertilizers, and bulk blending fertilizers. Mono ammonium phosphate is required to sustain healthy plant growth.
Other Applications
Mono ammonium phosphate is used in ceramics, enamels, fireproofing applications, dry fire extinguisher powders, and fermentation processes.
